The PVC Schedule 40 90-degree street elbow is used in cold water pressure distribution systems including irrigation, pool and spa, potable water and chilled water applications. Please refer to NIBCO technical data sheets and catalogs for engineering and installation information. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is the most frequently specified of all thermoplastic materials because of its light weight, durability and cost-effectiveness. PVC Schedule 40 is easy to install and is joined by solvent cementing or threading. PVC fittings exhibit high corrosion and chemical resistance and will not rust, scale, pit or corrode. NIBCO® plastic fittings are backed by a 5-year limited warranty. Because of its longstanding reputation for innovation and precision in design and manufacturing, NIBCO is the preferred brand in the industry.

Nibco L061550 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What do the two ends of the Nibco 4607-2-3 PVC street elbow connect to?
It's a spigot x FIPT street elbow. One end is a spigot that pushes straight into the socket of another Sch 40 fitting, and the other end is female pipe thread for a male-threaded pipe or nipple. That spigot end means you don't need a short stub of pipe between fittings, which is the whole point of a street configuration.
2) Can I glue both ends of a Nibco PVC Sch 40 street elbow, or does one have to be threaded?
Only the spigot end gets solvent cemented, and it goes into a socket, not over a pipe. The other end is female threaded and is made up with a male thread and thread sealant. If you want solvent weld on both ends, you need a socket x spigot street elbow instead of this spigot x FIPT version.
3) Can I run hot water through a PVC Schedule 40 street elbow?
No. Maximum service temperature is 140 degrees F, and Nibco lists these for cold water pressure distribution. A domestic hot water line will exceed that. Use CPVC or copper on the hot side.
4) Can I use this PVC fitting on a compressed air line in my shop?
No. Nibco states plainly that these fittings must not be tested or used with compressed air or other gases. PVC under gas pressure can fail by shattering. This is a liquid-service fitting only, for cold water pressure systems.
5) What pipe sizes does the Nibco 4607-2-3 street elbow come in?
Two sizes, 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch. The 1/2 inch is part L061550 and the 3/4 inch is L061600P. Both are straight size, so the spigot and the threaded end are the same nominal size on a given part.
6) Do I need a street elbow or a regular 90 here?
Use the street version when you want to turn directly off another fitting, a valve, or a threaded outlet with no pipe stub in between. This one is a 90 degree (quarter bend) with a spigot on one side and female threads on the other, so it threads onto a male outlet and its spigot drops straight into the next socket fitting. If both of your connections are pipe ends, a standard socket x socket 90 is the fitting you want instead.
7) Will a white PVC Sch 40 elbow match the rest of my irrigation manifold?
The fitting is white PVC, which is the standard color for Sch 40 pressure fittings, so it'll match typical white Sch 40 pipe and fittings on an irrigation or pool manifold. It is not the gray Sch 80 look and it is not DWV.
8) Is this fitting acceptable for commercial plumbing work, or is it residential only?
Nibco lists it for commercial plumbing, residential plumbing, and irrigation. The corrosion and chemical resistance of PVC means it won't rust, scale, pit, or corrode in those cold water systems, which is why it shows up in institutional irrigation and chilled water runs as well as houses.
