1) What is a side inlet elbow used for on a PVC DWV drain line?
The Nibco 4807-9 is a 90 degree (1/4 bend) DWV elbow with a third opening on the side, so it turns the drain line and picks up a second branch at the same point instead of forcing you to install a separate tee downstream. All three openings are hubs (socket), so it solvent welds onto the outside of the pipe. Typical use is a fixture arm or vent tying in right where the waste line turns.
