The tee allows for a connection to be made in continuous pipeline and branch out to a different direction. 1) What does the Spg x Hub x Hub end configuration on a Nibco 4811-2 sanitary tee actually mean for how I plumb it in?
One end is a spigot, meaning it is sized like pipe and slips into the hub of another fitting. The other two openings are hubs that accept pipe. So the 4811-2 street tee lets you go fitting-to-fitting on the spigot side without cutting a short nipple of pipe, which is what saves you room in a tight joist bay or behind a wall. All three joints are solvent weld on Schedule 40 PVC DWV.
2) Which reducing sizes does the Nibco 4811-2 sanitary street tee come in for tying a 1-1/2 inch branch into a 2 inch drain?

Straight sizes are 1-1/2, 2, 3 and 4 inch, and the larger reducers are 3 x 3 x 2, 3 x 3 x 1-1/2 and 4 x 4 x 2.
3) Does the Nibco 4811-2 PVC DWV tee meet code for a permitted commercial job?
It is made to ASTM D2665 and D3311, carries NSF/ANSI Standard 14, and is NSF U.P. Certified, which is the drain-waste-vent listing inspectors look for. Nibco lists it for both commercial and residential plumbing.
4) Will a Nibco 4811-2 street tee solvent weld to the ABS drain pipe already in the building?
No. This is white PVC, and PVC cement will not bond PVC to black ABS. If you are tying new PVC into existing ABS, make the transition with a mechanical coupling or a listed transition cement at the joint, and keep the 4811-2 on the PVC side of that connection.
5) Is a sanitary tee the right fitting for my drain, or do I need a wye?
A sanitary tee has a curved sweep on the branch to carry waste into the flow direction, which is what makes it correct for a vertical drop, like a vent takeoff or a fixture branch entering a stack. On horizontal-to-horizontal drainage most codes want a wye and eighth bend instead, because the sanitary tee's sweep is too abrupt lying flat. The 4811-2 is the street version, so use it where the spigot end plugs straight into another fitting's hub.
6) How is the Nibco PVC DWV sanitary tee joined, and do I need threads or a gasket?
Solvent weld, all three connections. You prime and cement pipe into the two hubs, and the spigot end cements into the hub of the next fitting. No gaskets, no threads, no torque, and nothing else ships with the fitting. Nibco notes PVC DWV can also be threaded, but the 4811-2 itself is a cement joint fitting.
7) What part number do I order for a 3 inch Nibco sanitary street tee?
The straight 3 inch is MPN K103160. If the branch is smaller, K103150 is 3 x 3 x 2 and K103200 is 3 x 3 x 1-1/2. Straight 4 inch is K103250, straight 2 inch is K103050, and straight 1-1/2 inch is K103000.
8) Will PVC DWV tees corrode or scale in a waste line the way metal drain fittings do?
