1) What is the temperature limit on a Corzan CPVC Schedule 80 blind flange?
Maximum service temperature is 210 degrees F. That is the upper end for the CPVC material itself; pressure rating falls off as temperature climbs, so a hot line near that ceiling should be de-rated per the Chemtrol engineering data.
2) Can I use this CPVC blind flange on a compressed air line?
No. The Chemtrol Corzan CPVC fittings are explicitly not to be used or tested with compressed air or other gases. That includes pneumatic pressure testing, which is a common mistake on plastic piping. Hydrostatic test only.
3) Is the Nibco 5119-H blind flange approved for potable water?
It carries NSF/ANSI Standard 14 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 listings and is classified as a lead-free application, which is what a potable water spec calls for. It also conforms to ASTM F1970.
4) Does a blind flange need to be solvent welded to anything?
No. A blind flange is a solid, one-piece disc that bolts to a mating flange to dead-end a line; there is no socket to cement on the 5119-H itself. The socket weld connection in the Schedule 80 Chemtrol line belongs to the companion flange that gets cemented to the pipe. You need that companion flange, a gasket and bolting to close off the run.
5) What pipe sizes does the Nibco 5119-H blind flange come in?
Eleven sizes: 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2, 2, 2-1/2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 inch. Order by size, for example CB14550 for the 2 inch and CB14700 for the 4 inch.
6) Will this CPVC flange match the grey Schedule 80 pipe already on my system?
The 5119-H is light grey Corzan CPVC, Schedule 80, which is the standard color for CPVC industrial pipe and distinguishes it from the dark grey of PVC Schedule 80. Match material to material: CPVC flange on CPVC pipe.
7) Can I use this blind flange as a temporary cap during system testing?
Yes, that is a normal use. Bolted to a companion flange with a gasket, the solid one-piece 5119-H closes off a branch for hydrostatic testing or future tie-in and comes back off without cutting pipe. Do not pressure test with air or gas.
