1) What pipe sizes does the Nibco 5810-2 ABS street wye come in?
Six configurations: straight 1-1/2 inch, 2 inch, 3 inch and 4 inch, plus two reducing patterns, 3 x 3 x 2 inch and 4 x 4 x 3 inch. The reducers are the ones you want when a 2 inch lav or kitchen branch ties into a 3 inch line, or a 3 inch branch ties into a 4 inch main, so you are not stacking a bushing on top of the wye.
2) Will this ABS wye glue onto Schedule 40 DWV pipe?
Yes. The 5810-2 is a Schedule 40 ABS DWV fitting with solvent weld ends, so it cements directly to standard black Schedule 40 ABS DWV pipe of the matching size. It is a solvent cement joint, not a gasket or a thread, so the hub and the pipe OD have to be the same nominal size and both surfaces need ABS cement (or an all-purpose ABS/PVC cement rated for the joint).
3) Can I use a Nibco ABS wye to tie into existing cast iron or copper drain?
Not directly. Both hubs and the spigot on the 5810-2 are solvent weld ABS, so they only bond to ABS. Nibco's own guidance for this fitting is that ABS DWV connects to steel, copper or cast iron through transition fittings, so plan on a transition coupling or a shielded no-hub coupling at the changeover point and keep the wye entirely in the plastic run.
4) Is this ABS fitting approved for commercial buildings or just houses?
Both. The 45 degree geometry (1/8 bend) keeps the branch flowing with the main instead of against it, which is what a drain line needs.

Black. ABS DWV is black by convention, which is how an inspector tells it apart from white PVC DWV at a glance. Matching material matters more than color: if the existing drain is white PVC, this wye will not solvent weld to it correctly, and you want a PVC DWV wye instead.
