1) Can the Nibco 748 wye be used on potable water lines?
No. Use of the Nibco 748 wye in U.S. drinking water applications is prohibited after January 3, 2014. It is a cast bronze fitting made to ASTM B584 Alloy C84400, which puts it on the non-potable side of the line.
