The flange features female NPT threads and flange face. This fitting provides a means for adapting a threaded connection to a flange connection. Please refer to NIBCO technical data sheets and catalogs for engineering and installation information. In addition to its inherent qualities of beauty, durability and low maintenance, copper's reusability makes it an ideal application in sustainable projects. NIBCO® copper fittings are manufactured in an ISO 9001 certified facility, and backed by a 50-year limited warranty. Nibco B515306 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Nibco 775 companion flange actually connect to on each side?
The 775 is a bronze companion flange with a female threaded inlet on one end and a flat flange face on the other. Nibco lists the end connection type as F x Flange, so you thread it onto male NPT pipe or a male-threaded nipple, then bolt the flange face to the mating flange on a pump, valve, tank, or meter. It exists purely to get a threaded line onto a flanged connection.
2) Can I use the Nibco 775 flange on a potable water line?
No. Nibco states outright that use of this flange in U.S. drinking water applications is prohibited after January 3, 2014. It is a C84400 alloy casting, which is not a low-lead alloy, so keep it on non-potable service: heating and HVAC hydronics, fire protection, industrial, and irrigation. For potable, specify a low-lead flange instead.
3) Is the Nibco 775 a solder flange or a threaded flange? The classification is confusing.
It is threaded. The 775 has female NPT threads on the pipe end, which is what the F in the model description refers to, and it screws onto male pipe threads. Nibco groups it in its solder pressure companion flange family because it sits alongside the solder-end versions in the same catalog line, but the joint you make on the 775 is a threaded one, not a soldered one. If you are running copper tube and want to sweat the flange on, you need the solder-end companion flange, not this.
4) Will the Nibco 775 bolt up to my existing Class 150 pump flange?
Yes, as long as the pump flange is the same nominal size and also Class 150. The 775 is built to ASME B16.24, which sets the flange outside diameter, bolt circle, bolt hole count, and thickness for Class 150 bronze flanges, and that pattern is common across Class 150 flanges of the same size regardless of who made the other half. It will not mate to a Class 300 flange, the bolt circle is different.
5) What pipe sizes does the Nibco 775 flange come in?
Four sizes: 2 inch, 2-1/2 inch, 3 inch, and 4 inch. The part numbers run B515306 for 2 inch, B515356 for 2-1/2 inch, B515406 for 3 inch, and B515456 for 4 inch. Size is the threaded pipe size, and the Class 150 flange face follows the standard bolt circle for that size, so a 3 inch flange bolts to any 3 inch Class 150 flange.
6) Will a bronze flange corrode on a closed-loop heating system with steel pipe?
The 775 is cast from ASTM B584 C84400 bronze and Nibco calls it dezincification resistant, which is what matters on hydronic and water service where zinc leaching can eat out a brass casting over time. It is rated for heating, HVAC, and industrial systems. Where it joins dissimilar metal such as black steel or galvanized, treat it like any bronze-to-steel joint and handle it per your system's usual practice for mixed metals.
7) Can I use the 775 flange on a fire protection line?
Fire protection is one of the services Nibco lists for the 775, along with commercial and residential plumbing, heating, HVAC, industrial, and irrigation. As always on fire service, the specifying authority governs what listings the component must carry, so confirm the 775 satisfies your AHJ before it goes in the riser.
