1) How do I connect copper DWV tube to existing cast iron soil pipe?
The Nibco 805-N soil pipe adapter is made for exactly that transition. One end is a solder cup that takes copper DWV tube, the other end is a no-hub spigot that drops into a no-hub coupling band on cast iron soil pipe. You solder the copper side, then clamp the no-hub side with the gasketed shielded coupling.
2) What sizes does the Nibco 805-N no hub soil pipe adapter come in?
Four sizes: 1-1/2 inch x 2 inch, 2 inch, 3 inch, and 4 inch x 4 inch. The 1-1/2 x 2 is the reducing version, taking 1-1/2 inch copper on the solder side up to a 2 inch no-hub spigot, which is the common lav or branch tie-in to a 2 inch cast iron line.
3) Is this a pressure fitting or is it drainage only?
Drainage only. The 805-N is a DWV fitting for drain, waste and vent service, and the no-hub joint it lands in is a gasketed compression band, not a pressure joint. Do not use it on water supply or any pressurized line.
4) What is the Nibco 805-N adapter made of, and will it hold up in a cast iron drain?
Cast bronze, ASTM B584 alloy C84400, and dezincification resistant, so it holds up where dissimilar metals and wet drainage meet. Material and workmanship are per ASME B16.23.
5) Will this adapter solder to regular copper DWV tube or does it need type L?
The solder cup on the 805-N takes copper tube sized to the cup. For DWV work that is copper DWV tube; the fitting is built to ASME B16.23, the standard covering cast copper alloy solder-joint drainage fittings, so it mates with standard DWV tube sizes rather than pressure-fitting dimensions.
6) Which part number do I order for a 4 inch cast iron stack?
For 4 inch, order MPN E041200, the 4 inch x 4 inch 805-N. The other Nibco part numbers in the family are E041000 (1-1/2 x 2), E041050 (2 inch) and E041100 (3 inch).
7) Can I use the 805-N adapter on a residential remodel, or is it commercial only?
