1) What thread does the SCG-M161 gland have, and what size hole do I need in the enclosure?
It's an M16 metric thread with a 1.5 mm pitch and 7 mm of thread length. That means the enclosure wall or lock nut has to be tapped or drilled for M16 x 1.5, and the 7 mm thread engagement limits you to fairly thin gauge enclosure walls. It will not thread into an NPT or PG hub.
2) Can this cable gland be used outdoors or in a washdown area?
Yes. The SCG-M161 is rated IP68 and NEMA 4, so it holds up to hose-directed water and dust ingress, which covers outdoor enclosures, wet locations and washdown bays. It's also built from V4A (316-class) stainless steel for corrosion resistance, which is why it suits food plants and coastal installs.
