Thomas & Betts BCG-M16 Non Armoured Cable Gland

The BCG-M16 clamps cable with an outside diameter of 2 to 6 mm. Anything thinner won't seal reliably and anything over 6 mm won't pass the seal, so for larger cable you need a bigger metric size gland.

Two thread lengths are offered: the BCG-M161 with a 7 mm thread and the BCG-M161-L with a 12 mm thread. Pick the 7 mm for thin sheet steel or standard enclosure walls, and the 12 mm long-thread version when the wall is thick, when a locknut and sealing washer stack up on the inside, or when you need more engagement to lock the gland against rotation.

Sealing is rated IP68 and NEMA 4, so it handles hose-directed water and dust when correctly torqued onto the right cable diameter. NEMA 4 covers rain, splashing water and hose-directed water for indoor or outdoor use.

No. It's a non-armoured cable gland, so it clamps and seals the outer sheath only. There's no armour cone or clamping ring to terminate braid or steel wire armour and establish earth continuity through the gland. For SWA or braided armour you need a dedicated armoured gland.

The body is brass with nickel plating, which is the surface protection against corrosion. That combination suits damp, outdoor and wash-prone installations better than plain plated steel, and the metal body also gives you a solid mechanical grip on the cable. For aggressive chemical exposure, a polymer gland is usually the better choice.

Rated from -20 to +100 degrees C. That covers unheated outdoor enclosures in most climates and hot equipment cabinets, but it rules out cryogenic or deep-freeze service below -20 C.

They carry cULus listing, plus RoHS, WEEE and LVD compliance. The cULus marking is what most inspectors and specifying engineers look for on a cord grip in US and Canadian work.

They are packed 10 to an inner carton and 100 to the outer, which is how they come for panel shops and multi-enclosure jobs where you're fitting dozens of entries at once.
