1) What wire size does the Sta-Kon E72U ring terminal take?
The E72U is sized for 6 AWG conductor. One terminal, one wire size, so it won't crimp down reliably on 8 or 10 AWG, and 4 AWG won't seat in the barrel. For those gauges you need a different Sta-Kon part number.
2) Why would I use a 90 degree ring terminal instead of a straight one?
The 90 degree bend puts the ring perpendicular to the wire run, which is what you want when the conductor comes at a stud from the side, inside a tight panel, enclosure, or motor junction box. It keeps you from having to bend a 6 AWG copper conductor hard right at the barrel. If the wire approaches the stud in line, use a straight non-insulated ring instead.
3) Does the E72U terminal come with insulation or do I need to sleeve it?
It's a non-insulated barrel, bare copper with no nylon or vinyl sleeve. If the installation needs the connection covered, plan on heat shrink or a terminal boot as a separate item. Non-insulated is the usual choice where the lug sits under a cover or inside a sealed enclosure, and it's also what lets you inspect the crimp.
4) What is the E72U made of, and can I use it on aluminum conductor?
The terminal body is copper, so it's intended for copper conductor. Aluminum wire needs a terminal rated AL or AL/CU, and putting bare copper on aluminum invites galvanic corrosion at the joint. Stick to 6 AWG copper with this one.
