1) What wire size does the Sta-Kon M250-PS-Q parallel splice take?
The M250-PS-Q is sized for 250 MCM conductor. It is a parallel splice, so both conductors enter the same side and run alongside each other rather than butting end to end. If your run is a different gauge, you need the matching size in the series, not this one.
2) Is the M250-PS-Q splice insulated, or do I have to tape or sleeve it?
It is a non-insulated splice. The barrel is bare copper, so once it is crimped you have to insulate it yourself with tape, heat shrink, or a cold shrink sleeve to get back to the conductor's insulation rating. Plan that material into the job.
3) Can I use the Sta-Kon M250-PS-Q on aluminum conductor?
No. The barrel is copper and the splice is intended for copper conductor. Putting aluminum into a copper-only barrel risks galvanic corrosion and a failing connection. Use an aluminum-rated or AL/CU dual-rated connector for aluminum feeders.

600 V. That covers normal commercial and industrial branch and feeder work up through 600 volt systems. For medium voltage splicing it is not the right connector.

A butt splice is for conductors approaching from opposite ends in line. The M250-PS-Q is the parallel type in 250 MCM, so if your two cables enter the box facing each other, you want a butt connector instead.
7) Does the M250-PS-Q need a special crimp tool?
Yes, a 250 MCM copper barrel is a hydraulic or heavy mechanical compression job, not a hand tool crimp. Use a compression tool with the die index the connector calls for, and crimp the number of times the die set specifies. Hardware and dies are not supplied with the splice.
