NUVO Lighting 65-830 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) Will the NUVO 65-830 tri-proof fixture hold up in a wash-down area or an unheated parking garage?
The 65-830 is a wet location rated, IP65 and IK08 rated tri-proof linear fixture, so direct hose spray and dust are not a problem and the sealed housing takes impact. It is rated for outdoor use. That combination is what makes it the common pick for parking garages, car washes, loading docks, and food processing wash-down bays.
    2) Can one NUVO 65-830 be wired on both 120V and 277V circuits?
Yes. The driver accepts 120V through 277V, so the same 20 watt fixture goes up on a 120 volt branch circuit in a residential-style garage or a 277 volt commercial lighting circuit without ordering a different model. That is what lets a property manager standardize one part number across buildings with different distribution.
    3) Does the NUVO 65-830 dim, and what kind of dimmer does it need?
It dims on a 0-10V control signal, not on a line-voltage wall dimmer. You need a 0-10V compatible dimmer or control system with a low-voltage control pair pulled to the fixture. Wiring it to a standard forward-phase dimmer will not work.
    4) How does the 2ft NUVO tri-proof fixture mount, and can it be hung from a high deck?
Two options are supported: surface mount with brackets, or suspended on cables or chain. For an open garage deck or a high ceiling, the cable or chain suspension drops it to working height; for a low soffit or a stairwell ceiling, bracket it flat to the surface. At 2.65 lbs it is light enough for a single-person install.
    5) Do I need to order lamps or tubes for this NUVO vapor tight fixture?
No lamps to buy. The LED array is integrated into the fixture, so there is no socket, no tube, and nothing to relamp. Rated average life is 50,000 hours; at end of life the fixture is replaced rather than re-lamped, which is the tradeoff against an older T8 vapor tight.
    6) Is the NUVO 65-830 safety listed for commercial and institutional use?
It carries a cETLus safety listing, which covers both US and Canadian installations, and the fixture is RoHS compliant. For a school, hospital, or municipal spec sheet that calls for an ETL or equivalent listing, that is the credential on record.
    7) What is the housing made of on this tri-proof fixture, and does it carry a Prop 65 warning?
The body is plastic rather than metal, which is part of why it survives corrosive and damp environments where a painted steel vapor tight would rust at the seams. It is listed with a California Prop 65 chemical disclosure for lead.
    8) What color does the NUVO 65-830 come in?
One finish only: white and gray. There is no alternate housing color on the 65-830, so a run of them across a garage or corridor will match without specifying anything further.
