1) What pipe sizes does the Oatey 11840 No-Calk roof flashing fit?
The Oatey 11840 covers vent pipe from 1-1/4 in. through 1-1/2 in. The All-Flash collar design is what lets one flashing cover more than one pipe size, so you don't need a separate part for each. The collar is self-sealing and slides down over the pipe, so no caulk is required at the penetration.
2) What roof pitch can the Oatey 11840 flashing be installed on?
The galvanized metal base handles pitch from 0 to 40 degrees, which is anything up to a 10/12 roof. Flat or low-slope decks are fine within that range, but it is not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs.
3) Can I use the Oatey 11840 flashing on a Type B gas vent?
Yes. The 11840 is approved for Type B installations and rated for 180 degrees F continuous heat. If your vent runs hotter than that, this is the wrong flashing.
4) How big is the base on the Oatey 11840 and will it lay under my shingle course?
The base measures 9 in. x 12.5 in., which is the standard footprint that tucks under the upslope shingles with the lower flange lapping over the course below. It is 28 gauge galvanized steel, so it can be bent to the deck contour without kinking.
5) Can I paint the flashing collar to match my roof?
No. Paint and petroleum based products must not be applied to the collar or the plastic base of the Oatey No-Calk flashing, they degrade the seal material. The collar is made so it will not fade, so there is no reason to coat it.
6) Is the Oatey 11840 galvanized base a painted or coated finish?
The base ships unfinished, bare 28 gauge galvanized steel. Galvanizing is the corrosion protection, there is no topcoat over it.
