1) What size pipe does the Oatey 12936 No-Calk roof flashing fit?
The Oatey 12936 is built for 2 inch pipe. The collar is self-sealing and slides down over the pipe, so there is no caulk or sealant needed at the penetration.
2) What roof pitch can this No-Calk aluminum flashing be installed on?
The stamped aluminum base handles pitch from 0 to 40 degrees, which is anything up to a 10/12 roof. Above that pitch you need a different base.
3) Can I use the Oatey 12936 on a hot-mopped or built-up roof?
No. This No-Calk flashing is not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs. It is intended for shingle and similar sloped roof assemblies where the aluminum base is shaped into the field and the collar seals the 2 inch pipe.
4) Is this flashing rated for a Type B gas vent?
Yes, it's approved for Type B installations and rated for 180 degrees F continuous heat. That covers the vent temperatures a Type B run puts on the collar.
5) How much roof deck does the 12936 base cover?
The stamped aluminum base measures 9 x 12.5 inches. Lay out your penetration so the base has that much clear area to be shingled over on the upslope side and lapped on the downslope side.
6) Will the aluminum base bend to follow my roof contour?
That's how it is meant to go in. The base is rustproof stamped aluminum and shapes easily by hand to sit flat against the deck or follow a slight contour.
7) Can I paint the flashing collar to match my roof?
Don't. Paint and petroleum based products are not to be used on the No-Calk collar; they attack the seal. The collar is color-stable on its own and will not fade, and the aluminum base ships unfinished.
8) Do I need sealant or extra hardware to install the Oatey 12936?
No caulking at the pipe, that's the point of the No-Calk collar. You supply your own roofing fasteners and shingle lap; the flashing itself is a one-piece base and collar for 2 inch pipe.
