1) What pipe sizes does the Oatey 12403 No-Calk roof flashing fit?
The Oatey 12403 copper No-Calk flashing covers vent pipe from 1.5 inch up to 3 inch. That range comes from the patented All-Flash design, so one part handles several stack sizes instead of stocking a separate flashing for each. If your stack is larger than 3 inch, this is the wrong flashing.
2) What roof pitch can this Oatey copper vent flashing be installed on?
The metal base handles pitch from 0 to 40 degrees, so it works on everything from a dead flat deck to a steep residential slope. One exception: it is not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs.
3) Can I use the Oatey 12403 on a B-vent or a hot flue?
It is rated for 180 degrees F continuous heat and approved for Type B installations, so it suits Type B gas vent as well as standard DWV stacks. Anything running hotter than that 180 F continuous rating needs a different flashing.
4) How big is the base on the Oatey 12403 flashing, and will it fit between my rafters?
The copper base measures 12 x 12 inches. Lay it out against your shingle course and stack location before cutting: you need that much flat deck around the penetration for the base to sit properly and shingle over.
5) Is the 12403 all copper, or just the collar?
The base is copper, which is why it gets specified on copper and standing seam roofs where a galvanized or plastic base would set up a dissimilar-metal problem or clash visually. The collar is the No-Calk rubber-type seal that grips the pipe.
6) Do I need to caulk around the pipe after setting an Oatey No-Calk flashing?
No. The No-Calk collar seals against the pipe on its own, which is the whole point of the design. What you must avoid is petroleum based products or paint on the flashing collar, they degrade the seal.
