1) Will the Oatey 12404 No-Calk flashing fit both 3 inch and 4 inch vent pipe?
Yes. The 12404 uses Oatey's patented All-Flash design, so the one collar seals on multiple pipe sizes across the 3 inch to 4 inch range. You don't need a separate part number for each vent size on the same roof.
2) What roof pitch can the Oatey 12404 copper roof flashing be installed on?
The metal base handles pitch from 0 to 40 degrees, which covers flat decks through steep-slope shingle roofs. Base footprint is 11 by 14.5 inches.
3) Can I use the Oatey 12404 No-Calk flashing on a hot-mopped or built-up roof?
No. The 12404 is not approved for hot-mopped or built-up roofs. Also keep petroleum based products and paint off the flashing collar and the plastic base, both will degrade the seal. For a built-up or modified bitumen roof you need a flashing rated for that assembly.
4) Is the Oatey 12404 flashing rated for a Type B gas vent?
It is approved for Type B installations and rated for 180 degrees F continuous heat, so it suits Type B vent as well as plumbing DWV stacks in that temperature range.
5) Is the base on the Oatey 12404 actually copper, or just copper colored?
It's a copper base with a rubber-style No-Calk collar. Copper is what you want on a copper or standing-seam metal roof where a galvanized or aluminum base would set up galvanic corrosion against the surrounding roofing.
