1) What roof pitch will the Oatey 11866 No-Calk flashing work on?
The 11866 has a metal base good for pitch from 0 to 40 degrees, which covers anything up to a 10/12 roof. Steeper than 10/12 and you need a different base.
2) Can I use the Oatey 11866 flashing on a hot-mopped or built-up roof?
No. The 11866 is not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs. Petroleum based products and paint also must not be applied to the collar or plastic base, so asphalt-based mopping compounds rule it out.
3) Is the Oatey 11866 flashing rated for a gas appliance Type B vent?
Yes, it's approved for Type B installations and rated to 180 degrees F continuous heat. That covers a Type B gas vent; for higher flue temperatures use an all-metal flashing instead.
4) Does the Oatey 11866 need caulking around the vent pipe?
No caulk. The self-sealing All-Flash collar slides down over the pipe and seals itself, and the patented design lets the one collar work across multiple pipe sizes around the 3 inch nominal rating.
5) How big is the base on the Oatey 3 in. No-Calk roof flashing, and will it tuck under my shingle courses?
Base measures 11 x 14.5 inches in 28 gauge galvanized steel, which gives you enough flange to slip the upper portion under the next shingle course and lap the lower portion over the course below. Shipping weight is 0.8 lb.
6) Will the Oatey 11866 collar fade or need repainting on a sun-exposed roof?
The collar will not fade, and it should not be painted in any case, since paint and petroleum based products aren't permitted on the collar or plastic base. The galvanized steel base ships unfinished.
