1) What pipe sizes does the Oatey 11871 No-Calk roof flashing fit?
The Oatey 11871 All-Flash No-Calk flashing covers vent pipe from 1.5 inch through 3 inch. The patented All-Flash collar design is what lets one part serve that whole range, so a single flashing handles the 1-1/2 inch lav vent and the 3 inch main stack on the same roof.
2) Will this Oatey flashing work on a steep roof, and what pitch is it good for?
The metal base handles pitch from 0 to 40 degrees, which is up to a 10/12 roof. Anything steeper than 10/12 needs a different base. Flat and low-slope shingle roofs inside that range are fine.
3) Can I use the Oatey 11871 on a hot-mopped or built-up roof?
No. The 11871 is not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs. Use a flashing rated for that assembly instead. It is intended for shingle and similar pitched roof coverings within the 0 to 40 degree range.
4) Is the Oatey 11871 rated for a Type B gas vent or a hot flue?
It is rated for 180 degrees F continuous heat and approved for Type B installations. That covers Type B gas vent as well as ordinary DWV vent stacks. It is not a high-temperature single-wall flue flashing.
5) Does this vent flashing need caulking or sealant around the pipe?
No caulk. The collar is self-sealing and slides down over the pipe to make the seal on its own. That is the point of the No-Calk design. One caution: do not put petroleum based products or paint on the collar or the plastic base, it will damage them.
6) What is the base made of on the Oatey 11871 roof flashing?
A 28 gauge galvanized steel base, 11 x 14.5 inches, with the plastic collar on top. The galvanized metal base is the one that takes the shingle nails and lays flat under the course above; the collar carries the seal and will not fade.
7) I need to order a stack of vent flashings for a re-roof. What part number do I ask for?
