1) What pipe size does the Oatey 11899 No-Calk roof flashing fit?
The Oatey 11899 is the 2 inch size. The thermoplastic base slides down over a 2 inch vent pipe and the sealing collar grips the pipe, so there is no caulking at the penetration. Base measures 9.25 x 13 inches.
2) Will this Oatey flashing work on a steep pitched roof?
It is made to slide over the vent pipe on roofs pitched up to 45 degrees. Above that pitch, the base will not seat correctly and you need a flashing built for steeper slope.
3) Can I use the Oatey 11899 on a flat built-up or hot-mopped roof?
No. The 11899 thermoplastic No-Calk flashing is not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs. The hot asphalt application is not compatible with the plastic base, so use a flashing rated for built-up systems on those decks.
4) Is this roof flashing OK over a Type B gas vent?
Yes. The 11899 is approved for Type B installations and is rated for 180 degrees F continuous heat.
5) Can I paint the Oatey No-Calk flashing base to match my shingles?
Don't. Paint and petroleum based products are not to be used on the plastic base or the rubber collar; they degrade the material. The base is rigid black thermoplastic that is non-fading and non-cracking, and the sealing collar is non-fading as well, so it holds its appearance without coating.
6) Do I need sealant or caulk to install this vent pipe flashing?
No caulk at the pipe. That is the point of the No-Calk design: the collar seals against the 2 inch pipe on its own. The base still gets shingled in the normal way, with the upper half of the 9.25 x 13 inch base run under the course above and the lower half lapping over the shingles below.
7) How heavy is the Oatey 11899 flashing for shipping a pallet of them?
