OATEY 74142 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Oatey 74142 cleanout adjustable for finished floor height?
Yes. The 74142 is an adjustable commercial cleanout, so the top assembly can be set to the finished floor level after the pipe is roughed in. That is what makes it usable in a concrete pour where the slab elevation is not final when the DWV goes in.
2) What size is the cover on the Oatey 74142 and what is it made of?
It comes with a 6 inch nickel bronze cover plus a square ring. The square ring is what matters on a tile or terrazzo floor, since it gives the installer a clean edge to finish the floor material against instead of scribing to a round collar.
3) Do I need a round or square ring cleanout for a tile floor?
The 74142 carries a square ring, which suits tile, terrazzo and other hard finished floors where the tile can be cut on straight lines to the ring. A round-ring or plain round cover cleanout is the simpler choice in bare concrete or carpeted areas where no edge detail is needed.
4) Does the Oatey 74142 cleanout come with the cover, or is that ordered separately?
The cover is included. Ordering the 74142 gets you the 2 inch PVC adjustable cleanout body, the 6 inch nickel bronze cover and the square ring as one assembly, so there is no separate top to specify.
5) How much does the Oatey 74142 cleanout weigh?
About 5.3 pounds. Most of that is the nickel bronze top; the PVC body itself is light. Worth knowing if you are staging a floor's worth of cleanouts before a slab pour.
