OATEY 72372 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size pipe does the Oatey 72372 floor drain connect to?
The Oatey 72372 is a 2 inch PVC commercial floor drain, so it ties into 2 inch PVC drain piping. Plan your rough-in around a 2 inch stub up to the drain body.
2) Can the Oatey 72372 drain height be adjusted after the slab is poured?
It is an adjustable commercial drain, so the strainer assembly can be raised or lowered to meet finished floor height rather than relying on the body being set perfectly during rough-in. That is the main reason to pick it over a fixed-height body on a slab pour where the topping thickness is not final.
3) Will the Oatey 72372 drain body work in a cast iron piping system?
No. The body is PVC and is made to be solvent welded to PVC drain pipe. If the building is cast iron DWV, you either need a cast iron drain body or a proper transition coupling at the connection point.
4) What is the grate size and material on the Oatey 72372?
A 10 inch round cast nickel bronze top and grate. Cast nickel bronze is the usual choice where the drain is exposed in a finished commercial floor and has to take foot traffic and cart wheels without the pitting you get on plated steel.
5) What part number should I order for the Oatey 2 inch PVC adjustable commercial drain with the 10 inch round nickel top?
Order Oatey 72372. That number covers the complete assembly: the 2 inch PVC adjustable commercial drain body with the 10 inch round cast nickel grate and top.
6) How heavy is the Oatey 72372 drain for shipping and handling?
Listed at 4 pounds. One person handles it easily, and it is light enough that it needs to be anchored or supported during the pour so it does not float or shift.
