1) Is the Oatey 14206 rain collar rated for a Type B vent or a hot flue pipe?
It is rated for 180 degrees F continuous heat and approved for Type B installations, so it can be used on a 2 inch Type B vent as well as plumbing vent stacks. Anything running hotter than 180 F continuous is outside its rating.
2) Do I need to caulk or seal the Oatey 2 inch rain collar after installing it?
No caulking is needed. The rubber collar slides down over the vent pipe and seats against the flashing to shed water on its own. Keep petroleum based products off it, they degrade the rubber.
3) Can I use a rubber rain collar on a hot-mopped or built-up roof?
Not this one. The Oatey 14206 rain collar is specifically not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs. On those assemblies the hot asphalt and petroleum content will attack the rubber. Use a flashing detail suited to built-up roofing instead.
4) Will the black rubber rain collar fade or chalk out after a few seasons on the roof?
The collar is made of non-fading material, black rubber, so it holds its color under sun exposure on the roof.
5) Is the Oatey 14206 sold as a single piece or in bulk for stocking a truck?
