OATEY 72203 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Oatey 72203 drain connect to 3 inch or 4 inch PVC?
Both. The Oatey 72203 is built to take either 3 inch or 4 inch PVC pipe, so one drain body covers the two most common DWV sizes on a commercial floor rough-in. It is a PVC body, so it solvent-welds to PVC DWV pipe.
2) Can the Oatey 72203 floor drain be adjusted after the slab is poured to finish flush with tile?
Yes, it is an adjustable drain, so the strainer assembly rises and drops to meet the finished floor height after the rough-in is set. That is what makes it workable where tile, topping, or membrane thickness is not final at pour time.
3) What size and finish is the grate on the Oatey 72203 commercial floor drain?
A 6 inch chrome grate, supplied with a square ring. If your existing opening is set up for a round ring or a different grate diameter, the 6 inch chrome round grate with square ring is what ships here, so confirm the opening matches that pattern.
4) I need to order the Oatey adjustable PVC floor drain with the chrome grate. What part number do I give?
Order Oatey 72203. That is the manufacturer part number for the adjustable PVC commercial drain taking 3 inch or 4 inch pipe with the 6 inch chrome grate and square ring.
5) Is the Oatey 72203 suitable for a commercial restroom or kitchen floor rather than residential?
It is sold as a commercial drain, with a PVC body, adjustable strainer, and a chrome 6 inch grate. That combination is aimed at commercial floor applications, restrooms and service areas included, rather than a light residential shower drain.
