1) What size PVC pipe can Oatey Rain-R-Shine blue cement be used on?
Oatey 30894 Rain-R-Shine blue cement bonds PVC pipe and fittings up to 6 inch diameter with an interference fit. Above that size you need a heavy-bodied cement rated for the larger joint gap.
2) Can I glue PVC with this cement if the pipe is wet or it's raining?
That's what it's built for. Rain-R-Shine is a hot, very fast setting cement formulated for wet conditions, so you can solvent weld in rain or on damp pipe. Apply between 40F and 110F (4C to 43C).
3) Will this PVC cement meet low-VOC rules in California air districts?
It will. The Rain-R-Shine blue cement is a low VOC solvent cement meeting SCAQMD 1168/316A or BAAQMD Method 40 requirements, and it meets ASTM D2564 for PVC solvent cement.
4) Do I need primer with Oatey Rain-R-Shine, or can I use it on CPVC and ABS too?
Rain-R-Shine blue cement solvent welds PVC only. It is not an ABS or CPVC cement, and it is not a transition cement, so use the correct cement for those materials. Note that many jurisdictions still require a separate PVC primer on pressure piping even with a blue cement, so check your local code.
5) Why choose the fast-set Rain-R-Shine over a regular PVC cement for pool and irrigation repairs?
Rain-R-Shine is very fast setting, so the joint can be pressurized quickly, which is the point on a pool, spa, or irrigation line you need back in service the same visit.
