OATEY 72159 4" PVC Hub Base General Purpose Drain w/ 6" NI Grate

The grate measures 6 inches and is nickel, giving a round nickel-bronze style strainer face over the 4 inch PVC hub body. That 6 inch face is what sets the finished opening you need in the floor, so plan tile or slab cuts around a 6 inch round strainer rather than the 4 inch pipe size.

Metal. The strainer is nickel, not plastic, so it holds up to foot traffic, mop carts and cleaning chemicals better than a molded PVC grate. For utility rooms, laundry rooms and light commercial floors where the grate gets walked on, that is the reason to pick this one over an all plastic drain.

It is a general purpose floor drain, intended for places where you need to catch incidental water rather than handle heavy process flow: laundry rooms, water heater and mechanical closets, basements, janitor areas. The 4 inch PVC hub ties straight into a DWV riser, and the 6 inch nickel grate sits as the finished floor surface. For a shower pan or a clamping ring membrane application you want a dedicated shower drain instead.

The 72159 is a single configuration: part number 72159, 4 inch PVC hub base with the 6 inch nickel grate. There are no finish or size options to pick on it, so specify the model number as is. If you need a different pipe size or a plastic grate, that is a different Oatey model number, not an option on this one.
