OATEY 72018 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Oatey 72018 a shower drain or a general purpose floor drain?
It is sold as a general purpose drain, the type used for utility rooms, laundry areas, mechanical rooms and similar floor drainage on a 4 inch PVC line. A shower application usually calls for a membrane clamping drain instead, which this pipe base drain is not described as.
2) How big is the grate on the Oatey 72018 drain?
It comes with a 5 inch stainless steel grate over a 4 inch PVC pipe base. Worth checking against your tile or finished floor layout, since the visible round face is the 5 inch grate, not the 4 inch body.
3) What part number do I order for the Oatey 4 inch PVC pipe base drain with stainless grate?
Order Oatey 72018. That manufacturer number covers the complete assembly, 4 inch PVC pipe base with the 5 inch stainless steel grate.
