The Proximity readers with genuine HID technology are for use with the Net2 or 3rd party access control systems. These readers work with standard cards with genuine HID technology, operating at 125 kHz. The Wiegand card data is transmitted untruncated. The reader range includes the proximity P50M reader with genuine HID technology and the proximity metal reader with genuine HID technology. These readers are pre-activated with 125kHz genuine HID technology out of the box. There is no need to purchase an activation license to use this technology.

1) Will the Paxton KP50 keypad reader work with a non-Paxton access control panel, or does it have to be Net2?
Both. The KP50 proximity keypad reader is built for the Net2 system but is also intended for third party access control systems, and it sends the Wiegand card data untruncated so a foreign panel sees the full card number. One caveat on the ordering side: Wiegand output is available via an activation license, so if you are wiring it to a third party controller rather than Net2, plan for that license. Depth is the other number worth checking: at 0.6 inches it sits nearly flush and is unlikely to foul a door swing or a push bar.
5) Do I need to run separate cable to a Paxton KP50, or does it come with a lead?
A 3 metre cable comes with the reader, so for a typical door where the controller sits above the opening or in the frame you are not sourcing a tail separately. On a run longer than that, plan your cable pull back to the panel as part of the rough-in.
