Paxton Net2 Air, Communication Bridge, 2.4GHz, DHCP, AES128 Bit, PoE, IEEE 802.3, White

The Net2Air bridge uses Paxton’s Net2Air wireless technology to communicate with the Net2 software. The Net2Air bridge provides the wireless communication link between the PC running Net2 and wireless control units such as the PaxLock Pro or Net2 Nano. The bridge uses a site’s LAN which means that multiple Net2Air bridges can be placed around a site and linked back to the PC.

Features:

  • Wireless bridge from Net2 to wireless control units
  • Multiple Net2Air bridges can be placed around a site
  • Power over Ethernet (PoE)
  • Plugs into the existing LAN/WAN
  • Gives more flexibility on installing wireless control units

Paxton Access Inc 477-600-US – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Paxton Net2Air bridge actually do in a Net2 access control system?
The Net2Air bridge is the radio link between the PC running Net2 software and wireless control units such as the PaxLock Pro or Net2 Nano. The bridge itself sits on the site's LAN, so the wireless door units talk to the bridge and the bridge carries that traffic back over the network to the Net2 PC. It is not a door controller and it does not release a lock on its own.
2) Do I need to run a separate power supply to the Net2Air bridge, or will PoE cover it?
Power over Ethernet handles it. The bridge takes power and data on the same Ethernet run, so a single cable back to a PoE switch or injector is all the install needs. That is what makes it practical to mount one high on a wall or above a ceiling where there is no socket.
3) One bridge isn't covering my whole building. Can I add more Net2Air bridges on the same system?
Yes, and that is the intended way to cover a large site. Multiple Net2Air bridges can be placed around the building and each one links back to the Net2 PC over the existing LAN or WAN. Rather than trying to stretch one radio across a site, you drop a bridge into each area that has wireless control units and pick up a network point at each location.
4) I'm putting in PaxLock Pro wireless locks. Is the Net2Air bridge part of the job or optional?
It is part of the job. Wireless units like the PaxLock Pro and Net2 Nano have no wired path back to the Net2 software, so without a Net2Air bridge in radio range there is nothing carrying their traffic to the PC. Budget at least one bridge per coverage area, plus the PoE network point to feed each one.
5) How much wall space do I need to allow for a Paxton Net2Air bridge?
Allow for a square unit measuring 6.4 x 6.4 inches on the face with a 1.3 inch depth off the wall. It is shallow enough to sit above a door head or in a corridor without projecting into the space, but plan the Ethernet drop to land behind or beside it.
6) Does the Net2Air bridge need its own network segment, or can it go on our existing office LAN?
It plugs into the existing LAN or WAN, so no dedicated network is required. For a property or facilities team that means the access control wireless coverage rides on the same structured cabling and switching you already have, and each bridge just needs a live PoE port that can reach the Net2 server.
7) What colour does the Paxton Net2Air bridge come in?
White only. There is a single finish on the Net2Air bridge, so on a job where it will be visible in a corridor or lobby, plan for a white housing rather than expecting a matching metallic or dark option.
