It is the blank version on purpose. With no bore hole, the plate covers and reinforces an area of the door where you do not want hardware showing through, such as a filled-in old lockset hole, a kick-in split at the edge, or a spot you are armoring before it gets attacked. If you need the plate to pass a cylinder or knob through, a blank plate is the wrong choice and you want a cut wrap plate bored for that lock.
2) Can a wrap plate repair a wood door that has already been kicked in?
That is the main use. The Pro-Lok blank wrap plate wraps the edge of the door and sandwiches both faces, which pulls a split lock area back together and spreads any future load across the plate instead of the damaged wood. It works the same way on metal doors where the skin has been deformed. It covers a 4-1/4 by 4-1/2 inch area, so the damage has to fall inside that footprint.
3) How much of the door does a 4-1/4 by 4-1/2 inch wrap plate actually cover?
Those two numbers describe the plate blank, and it folds around the 1-3/4 inch door edge, so the coverage is split between the two faces plus the edge wrap. Measure your damaged area against that footprint before ordering. Long splits running well above and below the lock height need a full-height edge guard rather than a single wrap plate.
