1) Will a Pro-Lok wrap plate reinforcer work on a 1-3/8 inch door?
No. The Pro-Lok Edge Guard wrap plate is built for 1-3/4 inch thick doors only. A wrap plate has to fold around the door edge and sit flat on both faces, so a 1-3/4 inch wrap on a 1-3/8 inch leaf will stand proud and won't clamp. For a thinner interior door you need a wrap sized to that thickness.
2) Can I use a wrap plate to repair a wood door that was kicked in around the lock?
That is exactly the job. The Edge Guard wrap plate reinforces and repairs wood or metal doors damaged by forced entry, wrapping the lock edge to pull split material back together and give the lock a solid bearing surface again. It works on residential, commercial, and industrial doors.
3) Does the Pro-Lok Edge Guard fit a key-in-knob lock, a deadbolt, or both?
Both. The wrap plate is bored for key-in-knob locksets and for deadbolts, so it can be used over either prep on a 1-3/4 inch door.
4) How much of the door does the Pro-Lok wrap plate cover?
The plate face measures 4-1/2 x 1 inches, and it wraps a 1-3/4 inch door edge. That is a narrow edge wrap covering the immediate lock area, not a full-height door edge guard, so if the split in the stile runs well above or below the bore you'll want a longer wrap.
5) Will a wrap plate work on a hollow metal door, or is it only for wood?
Both. The Edge Guard is rated for wood or metal doors. On a hollow metal leaf it stiffens the lock edge where the skin has been deformed; on wood it holds a split stile together. Either way it goes on over the existing knob or deadbolt prep on a 1-3/4 inch door.
6) What finish does the Pro-Lok wrap plate come in?
Stainless steel is the finish currently offered on the Edge Guard wrap plate. Pro-Lok builds the Edge Guard in a duronodic finish as well if you're matching dark bronze hardware on the rest of the opening.
