1) Will the Pro-Lok wrap plate fit my door if the lock bore is 2-1/8 inches?
No. The Pro-Lok wrap around plate is punched for a 1-1/2 inch bore, so it will not cover or align with a standard 2-1/8 inch cylindrical lock prep. It is sized for a 1-1/2 inch hole with a 2-3/4 inch backset. If your door is bored 2-1/8 inches, you need a wrap plate made for that bore.
2) What door thickness does the Pro-Lok 4-1/4 x 4-1/2 wrap plate work on?
It wraps 1-3/4 inch thick doors, which is the standard commercial door thickness. A thinner 1-3/8 inch door will leave the plate loose on the edge, so it is not the right part for older interior doors.
3) Can a wrap around door plate repair a door edge that was kicked in?
That is exactly what this stainless steel wrap around plate is for. It wraps the edge of a wood or metal door over the damaged lock area, reinforcing and covering the split material and making the opening harder to force again. It covers a 4-1/4 by 4-1/2 inch area around the bore.
4) Does the Pro-Lok wrap plate work with a deadbolt as well as a knob lock?
Both. It is made to suit key-in-knob locksets or deadbolts, as long as the hole in the door is 1-1/2 inches at a 2-3/4 inch backset. Deadbolts on commercial doors commonly use the 2-3/4 inch backset, which is what this plate is punched for.
5) Is this wrap plate suitable for an apartment building or only for houses?
Pro-Lok rates the wrap around plate for residential, commercial or industrial use, so it works for a single rental unit or as a standard repair part across a multi-family or commercial portfolio. Since every plate is cut for the same 1-1/2 inch bore, 2-3/4 inch backset and 1-3/4 inch door, it only standardizes across openings that share that prep.
6) Can I use this wrap plate on a metal door, or is it wood only?
Wood or metal both. The stainless plate wraps the door edge and is intended for either substrate, so it works on hollow metal as well as solid or hollow core wood, provided the leaf is 1-3/4 inches thick and bored 1-1/2 inches.
7) What finish does the Pro-Lok wrap plate come in?
Stainless steel is the finish offered. Pro-Lok lists the wrap plate line in Duronodic and stainless steel, and the stainless version is the one built here. Stainless is the safer match on aluminum storefront and hollow metal openings where the existing trim is bright or satin rather than dark bronze.
