1) Will the Prodatakey PoE++ module power all four doors on a Red controller, or do I still need a separate power supply?
The PoE++ module kit fully powers up to 4 doors and 3.5 amps of electrified door hardware off the ethernet run, so a separate door power supply is not part of the design. It brings power over ethernet to PDK controllers and can also power expansion boards, which is where most of the cable savings come from on a multi-door opening set.
2) What does the PDK RMPOE module actually do to a Red Series controller?
It converts the controller to a power-over-ethernet install: power and data both ride one ethernet cable instead of running separate low-voltage power to the panel. The module is a plug-and-play add-on to the PDK R Series hardwired controller, not a standalone controller itself, so you order it alongside or for an existing Red panel.
3) How many amps of strikes and maglocks can I run off a PoE++ powered PDK panel?
3.5 amps of electrified door hardware across up to 4 doors. Add up the holding current of everything on the panel, strikes, maglocks, and any electrified trim, before you commit to PoE: four maglocks at high inrush can crowd that budget in a way four small electric strikes will not.
4) Can the Prodatakey PoE++ module be mounted in an unconditioned space like a parking garage or an attic IDF?
Operating range is -4 to +140 degrees F (-20 to +60 degrees C) at 0 to 95 percent relative humidity, non-condensing. That covers most unheated electrical rooms, garages and attic closets in temperate climates, but the non-condensing limit is the one to watch: a space that sweats in summer is out of spec even if the temperature is fine.
5) What part number do I order for the Prodatakey PoE++ module?
The Prodatakey PoE++ module is model RMPOE, sold as a single configuration, so there is no finish, capacity or voltage option to specify on the order. One kit per controller you are converting.
6) Does the PDK PoE++ module change how the controller talks to the network?
Communication stays ethernet. The module is not adding a wireless or cellular path, it is putting the existing ethernet run to work carrying power as well, which is why the install collapses to a single cable per panel location.
