Prodatakey R4 4 Door Red Controller, Ethernet, OSDP

Red 4 controller includes built-in Ethernet connectivity and self-discovery, simplifying IP configuration and functionality. Additional plug-and-play connection options are available by simply purchasing a Red WiMAC wireless or PoE++ module kit. The Red 4 is equipped with OSDP functionality, an onboard power supply, and a fully-supervised power circuit that monitors input, output, battery voltage, and overall controller health.

Features:

  • Advanced Security: Red products lead the industry in secure communication protocols. This includes OSDP, mobile, and encrypted credential communication.
  • Self Discoverable: The red 4 will be automatically discovered by the cloud node when an ethernet cable is connected; it is not necessary to enter the IP address; the device is self-discoverable.
  • Power Monitoring: Equipped with an onboard power supply and a fully-supervised power circuit that monitors input, output, battery voltage, and overall controller health.
  • Module kits: Additional WiMAC and PoE++ plug-and-play connection kits can be added by purchasing the respective wireless or PoE kit. Plug the module into the PDK red 4 board, and it's ready to go.
  • Plug N’Play Connectivity: All PDK red devices were designed to be plug n' play. That means they're easy to install right out of the box. It's simple to add any device, no matter how large the job is.
  • System Scalability: Whether you need two doors or a thousand, the PDK red 4 controller gives you the flexibility to add more doors anytime, anywhere, on any device.

Prodatakey R4 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How many doors does the Prodatakey Red 4 controller handle, and what wiring does each door get?
The PDK Red 4 is a four door controller. Each door gets a reader connection, an Input A and an Input B, plus one of the four industrial-grade 2A form-C relays for the lock output. All of it lands on removable screw-down terminals, so you can pre-wire the harness and drop the board in. If you only need two doors today, the Red 4 still makes sense: doors can be added to the system anytime without swapping the controller.
2) Does the PDK Red 4 access controller need a separate power supply for the readers and locks?
No separate supply for the readers. The Red 4 has an onboard power supply and powers readers and other door hardware directly off the bus. It ships with a 12 VDC 5A 60 watt class 2 wall adapter, and with that adapter the total shared output to all peripherals is 4 amps at 12V. Budget that 4A across every reader, strike and maglock you hang on the board. Input to the board itself is 12V-24V DC, and the controller draws 35mA idle.
3) What do I need to add to a PDK Red 4 to meet UL 294?
A 12V 8ah backup battery. It is not included with the Red 4 and it is required to comply with UL 294. The controller's supervised power circuit monitors battery voltage along with input, output and overall controller health, so once the battery is in place you get a fault reported rather than a silent dead board. Order the battery with the controller; an institutional or MRO spec calling for UL 294 will not pass without it.
4) Can I use the Prodatakey Red 4 over WiFi or PoE instead of running an Ethernet drop?
The Red 4 ships with built-in Ethernet only. WiMAC wireless (2.4 GHz / 802.15.4) and PoE++ are add-on module kits you buy separately and plug into the Red 4 board. If the closet has no data drop, the WiMAC kit is the way out: rated 1 mile line of sight, 450ft indoor average. If you have a PoE++ switch and want one cable for data and power, buy the PoE++ kit. Order the module at the same time as the controller, since a bare Red 4 gives you Ethernet and nothing else.
5) Will the PDK Red 4 controller work with OSDP readers, and how secure is the credential traffic?
OSDP is built in on the Red 4, so it drives OSDP readers directly rather than only Wiegand. Communication is AES 128-bit encrypted, and PDK's Red line carries encrypted credential and mobile credential communication as well. For a security integrator replacing Wiegand head-ends because of open-format sniffing concerns, that OSDP support is the reason to pick this board.
6) Where can I mount a Red 4 door controller, and will it survive an unconditioned space?
Indoor only. The Red 4 comes in a metal lockable security can rated for indoor use, so an exterior wall, a parking structure or an unheated outbuilding needs a separate weather-rated enclosure. The board itself runs -4 to +140 F (-20 to +60 C) at 0 to 95% relative humidity non-condensing, which covers most unconditioned electrical rooms and attics. The enclosure measures 7.625 x 10.4375 x 3 inches, so check depth before you plan a shallow wall cavity.
7) Do I have to assign a static IP or configure the network for a PDK Red 4?
No IP entry required. Plug an Ethernet cable into the Red 4 and the cloud node discovers it automatically. That is the practical difference for a property manager or a small integrator with no IT department on site: no static address, no port mapping conversation with the tenant's network people, no bench configuration before the truck roll.
8) What power supply can I use on a Red 4 if I am not using the included wall adapter?
Use the supplied adapter where you can. If you are feeding the Red 4 from a house supply or an existing power distribution board instead, PDK's guidance is a regulated supply putting out no more than 24 volts as measured with a multimeter. The board accepts 12V-24V DC. Note that going off the included 5 amp adapter also changes the peripheral budget, since the 4 amps available to readers and locks is figured from that adapter.
9) What is the manufacturer part number for the Prodatakey Red 4 four door controller?
AHDS30RVFD is the PDK part number for the Red 4 four door controller with Ethernet and OSDP. That is the number to quote on a submittal or a purchase order; the WiMAC and PoE++ connection kits are separate part numbers ordered alongside it.
10) Can I add more doors later, or do I need to size the access control system now?
Doors get added as you go. The Red 4 handles four openings on the board, and the PDK Red platform scales from a couple of doors to a thousand by adding controllers to the same system, managed from any device. For a REIT or a multi-family portfolio phasing openings building by building, that means the first four doors do not lock you into a head-end size.
