RAB X22-60 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the difference between the RAB X22-60 and X22-80 FlexFlood?
The wattage band. The X22 FlexFlood comes in two power groups: the X22-60 steps through 60/50/40/50W, and the X22-80 steps through 80/70/60/50W. Both are the same adjustable-power, multi-CCT flood with a built-in photocell, so pick the -80 if you need the extra output headroom on the high setting and the -60 if your load budget is tighter.
2) Does the RAB X22 FlexFlood need a separate photocell or a timer to run dusk to dawn?
No extra control gear needed. The X22 FlexFlood has a photocell built in, so it switches on at dusk and off at dawn on its own. Wire it to a constant unswitched line rather than a switched or timed circuit, otherwise you are fighting the photocell.
3) Can I set the color temperature on the RAB X22 flood light in the field?
Yes. The X22 is a multi-CCT fixture selectable across 3000K to 5000K, so one fixture covers warm 3000K for retail and hospitality frontages through 5000K for security and industrial yards. That means you can standardize on one part number across a property and match whatever is already on the other buildings at install time.
4) Does the RAB X22 LED flood qualify for utility rebates?
The X22 is listed DLC Premium under DLC version 5.1, which is the tier most utility programs require for their higher rebate levels. Rebate amounts and program rules vary by utility, but the fixture meets the Premium listing requirement itself.
5) Will the RAB X22 FlexFlood mount on a wall or does it need a pole bracket?
It ships with a knuckle/trunnion mount, which bolts to a wall, a pole bracket, or structural steel and lets you aim the head after mounting. No separate aiming accessory is required for standard wall or surface mounting.
6) What finishes does the RAB X22 FlexFlood come in?
Bronze and white, and both are offered in each wattage band: X22-60 and X22-80 in bronze, X22-60W and X22-80W in white. The W suffix on the part number is the white finish.
7) Is the RAB X22 flood dimmable or can it be put on a dimming control system?
The X22 uses a constant-current driver, so light level is set by the fixture's adjustable power selection (60/50/40/50W or 80/70/60/50W depending on model) rather than by an external dimmer. Treat it as a fixed-output fixture once you have chosen the wattage setting.
8) How long do the LEDs in the RAB X22 FlexFlood last for maintenance planning?
The LED source is rated at 100,000 hours. On a photocell-controlled dusk-to-dawn schedule of roughly 4,000 hours a year, that is a service life measured in decades rather than relamping cycles, which is why these are specified on perimeter and parking areas where lift access is expensive.
