Rockwood R111LPB Trim Protector Bars - Lever Handle

The R111LPB is a stainless steel bar that mounts over a lever handle to shield the lever and its trim from abuse and from being used as a hanger or a pry point. It is not a lock or a lever set, it is a guard that goes over the lever trim you already have. Rockwood specifies these for institutional buildings, offices, retail, educational, detention, sports facilities, hotels and restaurants.

Yes. The fasteners supplied with the R111LPB are 1/4-20 x 2-1/4 inch and 1/4-20 x 2 inch thru bolts with finish washers, sized for a standard 1-3/4 inch door. 1-3/4 inches is the standard commercial door thickness, so on typical hollow metal and commercial wood openings the supplied hardware is what you need. A thicker door needs different bolt lengths.

Yes. The stock R111LPB is 12 inch center to center, and Rockwood offers made-to-order sizes on this bar when an opening needs different spacing. For a fleet of doors, spec the 12 inch CTC everywhere it works and go custom only on the openings where the lever, lock case or an existing thru bolt gets in the way of that hole pattern.

Fasteners are included. You get 1/4-20 x 2-1/4 inch thru bolts, 1/4-20 x 2 inch thru bolts and finish washers with the bar. Thru bolting means the door has to be drilled through, so this is a bar-and-bolt install, not a surface screw job.

Lever only. The R111LPB is the lever handle version of Rockwood's trim protector bar, shaped and spaced to clear a lever throw. For a knob trim you want the knob version of the protector bar rather than this model.

That is what it is built for. The bar is solid stainless steel and Rockwood lists detention, educational and sports facilities among the building types these are used on. Stainless takes the abuse and the cleaning chemicals that plated finishes do not, which is why it turns up in corridors, locker rooms and secure areas rather than on residential openings. The R111LPB is a commercial product, not a residential one.
