It stays locked. The 1703 is fail secure, so when power drops the keeper holds the latch and the door remains secured from the outside. Free egress still comes from turning the inside lever or handle, which retracts the latch mechanically. If your opening needs to release on power loss, you need a fail safe strike instead.

The keeper is depth adjustable. With a 1/8 inch door to frame clearance it will take up to a 3/4 inch latch projection, and 1/2 inch maximum latch projection is the other stated setting. Measure your existing latch throw and your gap before you commit, because a deadlatch plunger that misses the keeper face will not deadlock.

Four voltage builds are offered: 8-16 VAC / 3-6 VDC, 12 VAC/VDC, 24 VAC/VDC, and 24 VDC. Pick to match the power supply already on the job. The 8-16 VAC option is the one for buzz-through service off an existing AC transformer or doorbell style supply; the 12 and 24 VAC/VDC builds suit access control panels, and 24 VDC is for a filtered DC supply where you want silent operation.

Treat it as a non fire opening device. If you are working a labeled door, go to a strike that carries the rating outright, such as the Von Duprin 6210 for mortise locks with UL 10C fire rating, the Von Duprin 4211 for cylindrical locks, or the Hager 2930 Grade 1 fire rated strike with 12/24VDC dual voltage.

The Adams Rite 7170 uses a 1-1/4" x 4-7/8" faceplate for hollow metal and wood jambs, and the Adams Rite 7100 and 7160 use the same 1-1/4" x 4-7/8" size for aluminum jambs.

The Trine 2001 is fire rated and fail secure at 16-24VAC/DC with a 5-7/8" x 1-1/4" faceplate and up to 5/8" throw. Both differ from the 1703 in faceplate dimensions, so verify the prep.

No. The 1703 is reversible and non handed, so one unit covers either hand of door. That also makes it easier to stock a single spare for a building with openings swinging both ways.

Two: 628 clear anodized and 613 oil rubbed bronze. Both are available across all four voltage builds. Clear anodized is the usual match for aluminum storefront; 613 is for dark bronze frames and dark anodized entrances.
