1) What is the difference between the S&G 6730-112 and the other 6730 lock packages?
All the 6730 packages share the same three-wheel lock body with a standard bolt. What changes is the dial and ring on the front. The 6730-112 comes with the D225 Spy-Proof, key locking dial and ring. The 6730-100 uses a D300/R211 front reading dial and ring, the 6730-101 a D003/R004 front reading set, the 6730-102 a D220 Spy-Proof set without key locking, and the 6730-103 a D690 front reading key locking set. If you want the same D225 key locking Spy-Proof dial on a four wheel lock instead of three, that is the 6731-111.
2) Will the Sargent & Greenleaf 6730 safe lock retrofit an existing safe or ATM?
The 6730 lock case uses S&G's "magic module" footprint, which is what makes it a drop-in on existing containers already prepped for that footprint. That is the whole reason the 6700 series is specified for ATM and commercial safe replacement work. Confirm the container's lock mounting is the magic module pattern; if it is, the body swaps without new drilling.
3) Is the S&G 6730 a UL Group 2 safe lock?
Yes, the 6700 series is a UL Group 2 mechanical safe lock. That is the rating most commercial safes, gun safes and ATM cabinets are specified with, so a 6730 will satisfy a spec calling for a Group 2 mechanical dial lock.
4) What does the key locking dial on the 6730-112 actually do?
The D225 dial on the 6730-112 is both Spy-Proof and key locking. Spy-Proof means the numbers are read through a shielded window rather than off an exposed ring, so someone standing nearby cannot watch the combination being dialed. Key locking means the dial itself can be locked with a key so the combination cannot be entered at all until the dial is released. 5) Do I need to buy a dial and ring separately with the 6730?
Not with the 6730-112. It ships as a complete package: the three wheel lock body with standard bolt plus the D225 Spy-Proof key locking dial and ring. If you already have a usable dial and ring on the container and only need the mechanism, order a body-only part instead, 6730-010 for three wheels or 6731-004 for four.
6) Should I order a 3-wheel or a 4-wheel S&G 6700 series safe lock?
Three wheels gives a three number combination, four wheels gives a four number combination and more possible settings. The 6730 bodies are the three wheel version, the 6731 the four wheel. If you are matching what is already on the container or standardizing a fleet of safes on three number combinations, stay with the 6730. If the spec or your security policy calls for a four number combination, order the 6731-004 body, or the 6731-111 if you want it packaged with the same D225 Spy-Proof key locking dial and ring as the 6730-112.
7) Can I change the combination on the S&G 6730 myself?
