Satco Lighting S11466 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the Satco S11466 A25 LED be used on a dimmer switch?
No. The S11466 is a non-dimmable lamp, so it has to run on a straight on/off circuit. Put it on a dimmer and you risk flicker, buzz, or early failure. If the fixture is on a wall dimmer, either swap in a dimmable lamp or replace the dimmer with a standard switch. It also is not a three-way lamp, so it won't step through levels in a 3-way socket.
2) What incandescent bulb does the 30W Satco A25 LED replace?
It is rated as a 300W incandescent equivalent, putting out 3750 lumens on 30 watts at 120 volts. That's the swap for the big 300W A-shape lamps used in high-bay-style residential fixtures, stairwells, shop lights, and utility spaces, at about a tenth of the draw (0.250A).
3) Can the Satco S11466 be used in a damp location like a covered porch or bathroom?
It carries a damp location rating, so a covered porch, a bathroom, or a garage is fine. Damp rated does not mean wet rated, so keep it out of anywhere it takes direct rain or hose spray, and out of shower enclosures that aren't in a wet-rated fixture.
4) Can this 30W LED be installed base-up in a ceiling fixture?
Burning position is universal, so base-up, base-down, or horizontal all work. That makes it usable in ceiling porcelain sockets, floor lamps, and wall-mounted fixtures without worrying about orientation or heat pooling at the base.
5) Is 4000K too cool for a living space, or is this bulb better for work areas?
4000K is neutral white, cleaner and cooler than the 2700K warm white most residential lamps use. It suits garages, basements, laundry rooms, stairwells, back-of-house and utility spaces where you want the light to read crisp. For apartment living rooms and bedrooms where you're matching existing warm lamps, a 2700K or 3000K lamp will blend better. The S11466 is a fixed color temperature lamp, not CCT selectable, so what you order is what you get on the wall.
6) How wide does the light spread from this Satco A25 LED?
Beam spread is 200 degrees, so light goes out sideways and behind the bulb as well as forward. That's what you want in an open socket, a bare porcelain keyless fixture, or a shade where you need the whole room lit rather than a spot. If you need light aimed down a narrow cone, a reflector lamp such as a BR or PAR is the right choice instead.
7) Does the Satco S11466 count toward California Title 24 requirements?
Yes, the lamp is listed as Title 24 compliant and FCC compliant. It is not DLC listed, so if a commercial utility rebate program you are filing under requires DLC qualification, this lamp will not qualify for that rebate.
8) Can I run this LED lamp on 277V or a 50Hz supply?
No. The S11466 is a 120 volt, 60 hertz lamp only. Commercial 277V lighting circuits will destroy it. For 277V branch circuits you need a lamp or fixture rated for that voltage, or a 120V circuit tapped off the panel.
9) What are the bulb and base made of on this Satco LED lamp?
Both the lens and the base are polystyrene plastic rather than glass. For property managers stocking stairwells, laundry rooms, and rental units that's an advantage on breakage and cleanup, and the plastic base won't seize in a socket the way older brass bases sometimes do.
