The S11641 is built to drop into both 5 inch and 6 inch recessed housings, which is why a single part covers most of the cans in a typical apartment or office ceiling. The trim face measures 7.48 inches across and the unit is only 1.55 inches deep, so it covers the cut opening on either can size. It ships six to a pack, so one order handles six openings.

Dimmable, on standard 120 volt 60 Hz line power. It draws 9.2 watts and puts out 650 lumens. Worth noting it is not a selectable wattage or selectable CCT unit, so the output and the color are fixed at what you order.

It carries a damp location rating and is an indoor fixture, so a bathroom ceiling, a covered corridor, or a laundry room is within its rating. Directly in a shower or tub enclosure, or anywhere exposed to the weather or direct spray, calls for a wet location rated downlight instead.

The S11641 is fixed at 3000K, the warm white that reads soft but not yellow, and it renders at 90 CRI. If the rest of your ceiling is 3000K you will get a clean match. If your other cans are 2700K or 4000K the difference will be visible in the same room, so keep a floor or a corridor on one temperature rather than mixing. There is no selectable color switch on this unit, so what you order is what you get.

A retrofit like the S11641 is the right call when the existing cans are sound and you are chasing efficiency, color consistency, or a trim refresh across a lot of openings. It threads into the medium socket already in the can, so there is no ceiling cutting and no electrician pulling new wire. Go the other way, to a full housing or a canless fixture, when the existing cans are damaged, when the opening size falls outside the 5 to 6 inch range this unit covers, or when the job needs a wet location or Title 24 compliant fixture, since this one is damp rated and not Title 24 compliant.

Rated at 35,000 hours. On a corridor or lobby running roughly 12 hours a day that is about eight years before you are back on a ladder, which is the number that matters when you are budgeting a relamp cycle across a portfolio. The LED is integrated, so when it does reach end of life the whole retrofit unit gets swapped, not a lamp inside it.

White trim, round, in a plain utility profile that disappears into a flat ceiling. Construction is plastic and aluminum, with the aluminum doing the heat sinking behind the trim. White is the only finish offered on this model.
