1) Will Schlage 7510 proximity cards work with my existing HID readers?
The 7510 is a 125 kHz prox card programmed in the 37-bit H10302 format, and it's stated compatible with HID 1386/1586 and Identiv 4010/4020 credentials. If your readers currently take HID 1386 (ISOProx II) or 1586 cards, the 7510 drops into that system without changing readers. It also reads on Schlage readers and electronic locks. If your site runs a different bit format than 37-bit H10302, the reader will see the card but your access control software may not parse the number, so match the format before you order.
2) Is a 125 kHz prox card like the 7510 secure enough for our facility?
Straight answer: 125 kHz proximity carries no encryption. The 7510 is meant for facilities with less demanding security needs, or for sites already invested in legacy prox that need matching cards. If you're securing areas where credential cloning is a real risk, look at smart card technology instead. Schlage also makes multi-technology credentials that read on both prox readers and smart readers, which lets you swap cards first and replace readers gradually rather than doing the whole building at once.
3) We already have XceedID 7510 cards on site. Are the Schlage ones the same card?
Same card. The Schlage 7510 is the former XceedID 7510, rebranded after Schlage brought the line in. Cards ordered under the Schlage name run the same 37-bit H10302 format and add to an existing XceedID population without a reader or software change.
4) Can Schlage 7510 prox cards be printed with our logo and photo badge artwork?
Yes. The 7510 is an ISO glossy white card, which is the standard direct-print surface for a dye-sublimation badge printer, and Schlage offers custom artwork and laser engraving on these credentials. The card body is composite rather than straight PVC, which is what makes it stand up to daily badge clip and reader use.
5) How many Schlage 7510 cards come in a box, and can I buy fewer than that?
The 7510 ships as a pack of 100 cards, and that is the only pack configuration offered. For a building rolling out badges to tenants or staff, plan the order in hundreds and keep a reserve for replacements, since each card carries a unique number from a factory-assigned range rather than being field-programmed.
6) How close do you have to hold a 7510 prox card to the reader?
Read range on the 7510 runs up to 4 to 5 inches, contactless, so a user presents the card near the reader rather than swiping it. That range is a function of the reader as much as the card, so a long-range gate reader and a mullion-mount reader will behave differently with the same credential.
7) How do we keep track of which card numbers we've issued across our buildings?
Schlage runs a CardTrax account tracking program at no additional cost that keeps a record of the card numbers issued to your account. That matters on the 7510 because the number range spans 0 to 34,359,738,367 and there's no facility code on this format, so the card number is the only thing distinguishing one credential from another when you reorder and need a non-overlapping block.
8) Do I need to specify a facility code when ordering 7510 prox cards?
No facility code applies to the 7510. The 37-bit H10302 format doesn't use one; the credential is identified purely by its card number out of the 0 to 34,359,738,367 range. What you do need to specify is the starting number, so the new block doesn't collide with cards already enrolled in your access control system.
