1) Will the Schlage LV9456 mortise lock fit a 1-3/4 inch door?
That is the door thickness the LV9456 is built for, 1-3/4 inches, which is the standard commercial door. It runs a 2-3/4 inch backset, so the mortise pocket has to be cut to that centerline. 2) What does the corridor function on a Schlage LV9456 actually do at the door?
Corridor, or F13, works like this: either lever retracts the latchbolt at any time. The deadbolt is thrown or retracted by the outside key or the inside thumbturn. Throwing the deadbolt locks the outside lever. Turning the inside lever pulls both the deadbolt and the latchbolt and unlocks the outside lever again, and the inside lever is always free, so you get immediate egress even with the deadbolt thrown. That combination is why it is used on dorm rooms and corridor doors where someone inside needs to secure the room but never needs a key to get out.
3) What is Vandlgard on the Schlage LV9456 and why would I spec it?
Vandlgard is Schlage's free-wheeling outside trim. When the outside lever is locked it spins freely instead of resisting, so somebody hanging on it or kicking down on it does not transmit that force into the lock case.
