SECURITRON TSH TOUCH SENSE HANDLER

Sized to conceal existing mounting holes, the TSH Touch Sense Handle replaces standard pulls on aluminum doors to allow electronic lock release for egress. With flexible options, it works equally well on in-swing doors or as a push-open device for out-swing doors, offering a clean look on aluminum frame glass doors.

1) Will the Securitron TSH touch sense handle cover the existing pull holes on my aluminum storefront door?
That's exactly what it's sized for. The TSH Touch Sense Handle replaces a standard pull on an aluminum door and is dimensioned to conceal the existing mounting holes, so you're not patching or replacing the door leaf. The handle measures 9 x 2-1/8 x 5 inches. If your old pull was a wider spread than that, the holes won't be covered, so measure your existing center-to-center before you commit.
2) Does the TSH work on an out-swinging door, or only in-swing?
Both. On in-swinging doors it acts as a pull, and on out-swinging doors it serves as a push-open device. Securitron lists it for use on any push, pull or swing-through door, so a swing-through center-hung opening is covered too. The release is triggered by touch alone, with no mechanical movement of the handle.
3) What voltage and current does the Securitron TSH need, and can I run it off my existing 12VDC access control supply?
The TSH runs on either 12 or 24VDC, so a standard 12VDC access control power supply works without a separate transformer. Current draw is 40mA at rest and 25mA while releasing, which is negligible against most panel supplies. Budget the power for your lock separately, since the TSH only switches the relay.
4) What contacts does the TSH touch sense handle give me for switching a maglock or electric strike?
Touching the handle energizes a DPST relay rated 2 amps, giving you two sets of contacts to break a maglock circuit and signal the access panel or shunt an alarm at the same time. There's also a backup push button on the unit in case the touch sensor is not activated. Anything drawing more than 2 amps should be switched through an interposing relay.
5) What's the difference between the TSH and the EL-TSH version?
Electrically they do the same job; the EL-TSH is built ElectroLynx ready, with the quick-connect harness that plugs into an ElectroLynx electrified hinge or power transfer instead of being hard-wired. If your opening already uses ElectroLynx transfer hardware, order EL-TSH-BK or EL-TSH-CL. On a conventional wired job, the standard TSH-BK or TSH-CL is the one.
6) Can the TSH touch sense handle be mounted on an exterior entrance door?
No. Securitron rates the TSH for indoor use only, with an operating range of +32 to +110F. An exterior storefront entry exposed to weather needs a different egress device. Interior lobby, vestibule, and tenant glass doors are where this one belongs.
7) What finishes does the Securitron TSH come in for matching storefront doors?
Two anodized finishes: black anodized (TSH-BK) and clear anodized (TSH-CL), both of which are the usual aluminum storefront finishes. The ElectroLynx versions come in the same two, as EL-TSH-BK and EL-TSH-CL. If you're standardizing a building of glass entries, pick the one matching your existing pulls and it carries across all four part numbers.
8) Does the Securitron TSH come with wire, or do I have to order a door cord separately?
Wiring is in the box. Securitron includes a 16 foot 22AWG 6-conductor cable plus an armored door cord, so a typical hinge-side transfer run is covered without a separate order. On an ElectroLynx job you'd be using the quick-connect harness to the transfer hinge instead.
9) Is the Securitron TSH approved for use on egress doors in New York City or California?
It carries CSFM approval from the California State Fire Marshal and MEA approval from the City of New York, along with UL/cUL, ANSI/UL 294 Listing, CSA-C22.2 No.205, and CE to EN 50091-1 and EN 61000-6-2. That covers the listings most AHJs ask for on an electronic egress release in a commercial building.
10) Is the TSH a request-to-exit device or an actual door lock?
It's the release device, not the lock. The TSH is an egress handle that senses a touch and throws its relay to drop a maglock or release an electric strike; the locking hardware, power supply, and any access control panel are separate. Think of it as the pull on the egress side of an electronically locked glass door.
