1) What thread size and length is the Metallics TRS910G threaded rod?
The TRS910G is 1/2-13 threaded rod in 10 foot lengths, galvanized finish. The 1/2-13 callout means a 1/2 inch diameter with 13 threads per inch, the standard UNC coarse pitch for that diameter, so it takes standard 1/2-13 hex nuts, couplings, and strut nuts.
2) Is galvanized threaded rod like the TRS910G okay for damp or outdoor hanger locations?
The galvanized coating on the TRS910G gives it better corrosion resistance than plain steel rod, which is why it gets used for pipe and conduit hangers in parking garages, mechanical rooms, and other damp interior locations. For continuously wet, chemical, or marine exposure, stainless all-thread is the usual call instead.
3) Can I cut the 10 foot rod down for shorter conduit or trapeze hangers?
Yes, 10 foot all-thread is normally bought to be cut to length in the field. Cut the TRS910G with a bandsaw, chop saw, or rod cutter, then chase the end with a 1/2-13 nut to clean up the first threads. Cut ends lose the galvanized coating, so touch them up with cold galvanizing compound in corrosive areas.
4) What hardware do I need to order with 1/2-13 threaded rod for a trapeze hanger?
The TRS910G bundle is rod only. You still need 1/2-13 hex nuts and washers, your anchor or beam attachment (wedge anchor, drop-in anchor with 1/2-13 internal thread, or beam clamp), and the channel, clevis hanger, or strut nuts at the load end. All of them need to be the 1/2-13 size to thread on.
5) Will 1/2-13 rod thread into a 1/2 inch drop-in anchor or beam clamp?
Yes. Anchors, beam clamps, and strut fittings marked 1/2 inch use the 1/2-13 UNC thread, so the TRS910G screws straight in. Just do not mix it with 1/2-20 fine thread fittings, which will not start on this rod.
