Trimco 1135 6" CTC Hospital Pull

That is what the 1135 Ultimate Grip is built for. It is a hands-free pull, so a forearm, elbow, or wrist hooks the grip and swings the door. The grip can be mounted pointing down or upward, so you can set it for a forearm hook or a wrist lift depending on how the opening gets used. Clearance behind the grip is 2 inches and projection off the face of the door is 3-3/16 inches, which is what gives a sleeved forearm room to get in behind it.

The difference is the geometry - the 1135 is a short cast grip sized for a forearm or wrist at 6 inch CTC, while the 8145EZHD is an offset straight pull. If the requirement is specifically the forearm hook shape, the 1135 is the one that provides it.

The Trimco 1135 is a cast Ultimate Grip built for hands-free operation with a 6 inch center-to-center and a 3-3/16 inch projection. For a straight bar pull instead, the Ives 8102HD is a heavy duty straight door pull with a 3/4 inch round bar and 1-1/2 inch clearance, and the Ives 8103HD is a heavy duty straight door pull in 1 inch round with through-bolt mounting. Both are straight-grip pulls rather than a hooked grip, and the 8103HD is the through-bolted option of the two.

710CU Steralloy Silver is a copper alloy rather than a plated finish, and copper alloy is the material Trimco puts on high-touch hardware under its Healthy Hardware program. Because the alloy is the substrate and not a coating, the surface does not wear off the way a plate does at the point everyone grabs. Back-to-back mounting is available on the 1135, so you can run a grip on the push and pull faces of the same opening through one set of fasteners. Order it as a back-to-back set rather than two singles, since the through-fastener hardware is what ties the two grips together.

Different jobs. The Trimco 1135 grip is shaped so a forearm can operate it, which is what you want on a restroom or exam room where nobody wants to touch the hardware on the way out. A conventional pull like the Ives 8145 45 degree offset or the Ives 8169 C style offset is a hand pull, and both of those are heavy duty pulls for general commercial openings, entry doors, corridors, storefront. If the reason you are replacing hardware is infection control or a hands-free requirement, the grip is the answer. If it is just a door someone needs to pull open, an offset pull is the simpler part.

For a straight back-to-back pull set, the Deltana SSPOBB24 is a 24 inch modern offset pair and the SSPORBB24 is the same length in a round offset. The Deltana OHP620 is an offset handle back-to-back set fitted for 1-1/8 to 1-3/8 inch doors, so check your door thickness against that one first, since 1-3/4 inch is the usual commercial leaf. The Sure-Loc PL-2KN is a knurled long pull in a double-sided configuration. None of those are hands-free grips, so if the spec calls for forearm operation stay with the 1135.

It is a deeper part than a flush pull or a plate because the whole point is the 2 inch gap behind the grip that a forearm slides into. On a tight vestibule or a door that lays flat against a wall, measure the swing before you commit.

Two things decide it. The grip mounts on 6 inch centers with two fasteners, so you need 9 inches of continuous flat face plus the 3-3/16 inch projection clear of the frame. Then, the 1135 uses a 2-point through attachment, which means the door has to be drilled for it. That rules out tempered glass that is not already fabricated with holes on that spacing. On an aluminum stile door, confirm the stile is wide enough to take the 3/4 inch wide grip and both fasteners without running into the glazing pocket.

The Trimco 1135 offers back-to-back mounting, so both faces of the door get a grip. Among comparable pulls, the Deltana OHP620 is an off-set handle pull supplied as a back-to-back set for doors 1-1/8 inch to 1-3/8 inch thick, the Deltana SSPOBB24 is a 24 inch back-to-back modern offset pull, the Deltana SSPORBB24 is the 24 inch back-to-back round offset version, and the Sure-Loc PL-2KN is a knurled long door pull in a double-sided configuration. The Deltana sets are long offset pulls rather than short grips, so they suit entry and storefront doors more than a restroom grip application.

The Trimco 1135 Ultimate Grip runs 9 inches overall with a 3-3/16 inch projection, which needs stile width and clearance in front of the door. For a lower-profile offset, the ABH AB3310 is an offset flat end door pull handle in a commercial grade surface mount, the ABH AB3330 is an offset round end pull available in custom lengths, and the Ives 8169 is a C style offset solid door pull in 1 inch diameter with heavy duty mounting. The AB3330 custom length option is the one to specify when the stile dictates the dimension rather than the catalog.

The Trimco 1135 is made in stainless steel, bronze or brass and uses a 2-point attachment; the 710CU Healthy Hardware Steralloy Silver version is a copper alloy for its antimicrobial intent. The ABH AB7200 is a solid stainless steel flat end pull handle, 7/8 inch diameter, with through-bolt mounting, and the ABH AB3300 is a straight flat end pull handle at 1.00 inch diameter. The AB7200 and AB3300 are straight bar pulls sized by diameter; the 1135 is a short cast grip specified by its 6 inch center-to-center.

They serve different functions. The Trimco 1135 is a hands-free Ultimate Grip for pulling the door open, ADA compliant, with 6 inch center-to-center and 2 inch clearance. The Cal-Royal PUL-175 is a night latch cylinder pull, 3-1/2 inch height, stainless steel, which mounts around a rim cylinder on a night latch installation. Ordering the PUL-175 expecting a restroom grip gets you a cylinder trim piece instead.

Stock is 3/8 inch by 3/4 inch bar, not tube, in stainless steel, bronze, or brass depending on how it is ordered. The 710CU Healthy Hardware version is copper alloy. Flat bar in that section gives a grip with a defined edge to hook a forearm on, which a round bar does not.

The 1135 Ultimate Grip is offered in a 6 inch and a 9 inch center-to-center. Standardize on one spacing across the building if you can, because the fastener prep in the door is what you are committing to, and a mixed campus means two templates and two spare parts on the shelf.
