3) How far does the Trimco 1199 pull stick out from the door face?
Projection is 3-1/2 inches. That is the figure to check against anything nearby on the opening, a pull side door closer arm, an adjacent wall or return, or a second leaf on a pair, so the grip does not foul when the door swings.
4) I need pulls on both sides of the door - is the Trimco 1199 the right choice?
The Trimco 1199 Straight Grip is available with back-to-back mounting, so it can serve both faces. If you would rather order a purpose-built back-to-back set, the Deltana OHP620 is an off-set handle pull supplied as a back-to-back set for doors 1-1/8 inch to 1-3/8 inch thick, and the Deltana SSPOBB24 and SSPORBB24 are 24 inch back-to-back offset pulls in modern and round profiles. The Sure-Loc PL-2KN is a double-sided knurled long pull.
5) What looks like a substitute for the Trimco 1199 but will not work the same way?
The Cal-Royal PUL-175 is a night latch cylinder pull in stainless steel at 3-1/2 inch height - it is sized to trim a rim cylinder, not to serve as a 6 inch or 8 inch center-to-center grip like the Trimco 1199. The Deltana SSP1210 is a 12 inch contemporary pull and the Sure-Loc long pulls (PL-1RD round, PL-1SQ square, PL-1KN knurled) are long-format pulls, so none of them land on the 1199 hole pattern.

For a commercial building standardizing on one look, 630 satin stainless is the usual match to existing lever and exit device hardware.
9) Should I use a straight grip pull or an offset pull on my entrance door?
A straight grip like the 1199 runs parallel to the door edge and mounts on two posts at a fixed center-to-center, which is the simplest prep and the common choice on store fronts, schools and corridor doors.
