Trimco’s KE Series Edge & Finger Guards are manufactured in the USA by master craftsmen from stainless steel, bronze or brass. Flexibility in options on the Edge Guards includes beveled or non-beveled stile, single or double acting doors, mortising, 2 or 3 edge protection and custom cutouts. 1) Is the Trimco KE32-1 edge guard for a beveled or square door edge?
The KE32-1 is the 93 degree version, made for stiles beveled 1/8 inch on a single acting door. If your door edge is square (non-beveled), you want the 90 degree KE31-1 instead. Getting this wrong means the guard will not seat flat against the edge.
2) Will a 2-sided edge guard work on a double acting door?
No. The KE32-1 wraps two sides of the edge, which suits a single acting door where only one face takes the abuse. On a double acting door that swings both ways you need 3-sided protection: KE33-2 for a 1/8 inch beveled stile, KE33-1 for a non-beveled stile, or KE34-1 for a radius stile.
3) What is the difference between mortise and non-mortise on the Trimco KE32-1 edge guard?
Non-mortise applies to the surface of the door edge, so the guard's thickness sits proud and slightly reduces your edge clearance. Mortise means the door edge is routed so the guard sits flush. Trimco catalogs the mortised 93 degree 2-sided version as KE36-1. You specify which way you want it when you order the KE32-1.
4) What lengths can I order the Trimco KE32-1 edge guard in?
Three length bands cover the range: up to 42 inches, 43 to 66 inches, and 67 to 96 inches. The 42 inch size is Trimco's standard KE Series length, typically used to protect the lock-edge strike area rather than the full height of the door. The longer bands cover full-height protection on standard and tall openings.
5) What finishes does the Trimco KE32-1 edge guard come in, and will it match my other door hardware?
Four BHMA finishes are offered: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613 oil rubbed bronze, and 630 satin stainless steel.
