1) Can the Trine 001 strike be installed in a wood jamb?
Yes, both wood and metal jambs, in new construction or as a replacement in an existing frame. The faceplate is 5-7/8 by 1-1/4 inches, which is longer than the common 4-7/8 inch ANSI plate, so if you are swapping into an existing 4-7/8 prep you will be cutting the jamb longer.
2) Does the Trine 001 electric strike buzz, and what voltage do I need for silent operation?
Silence depends on which coil you power. On 12VDC it draws 0.40 amps at 30 ohms, continuous duty, silent. On 24VDC it draws 0.19 amps at 125 ohms, continuous duty, silent. The AC coils buzz: 24VAC is 1.40 amps at 4.7 ohms and 8-16VAC/4-6VDC is 1.3-2.7 amps at 1.4 ohms, both intermittent duty only. Since the RS fail-safe option is DC only, you are on a silent, continuous-duty coil anyway.
3) Can I use the Trine 001RS on a fire-rated door?
No. The 001RS is not fire rated, and a fail-safe strike is generally not acceptable on a fire door because the opening has to stay latched. For a rated opening look at a fire-rated strike such as the Von Duprin 6400, which carries a 3-hour UL 10C rating in fail-secure, the Hager 2930 for cylindrical and mortise locks, or the SDC 45F.
4) Will the Trine 001 strike fit an aluminum storefront jamb?
No, it is built for wood and metal jambs, and the 5-7/8 by 1-1/4 inch faceplate with a 1-9/16 inch mortise backset will not go into a narrow aluminum stile jamb. For storefront, use a strike made for it, such as the Adams Rite 7100 or 7160 Series with a 1-1/4 by 4-7/8 inch faceplate.
5) I need a fail-safe electric strike but want the option to flip it to fail-secure in the field - what are my choices besides the Trine 001RS?

10) What is the closest equivalent to the Trine 001RS for a 5/8 inch latchbolt on 12 or 24 VDC?
