1) Will the Trine 007RS electric strike work in a wood door jamb?
Wood jambs are exactly what the Trine 007 is built for, in new construction or as a replacement in an existing frame. The mortise cutout it needs is 2-7/8 inch backset, with a cavity 5/8 inch deep, 3/4 inch wide and 1-1/2 inches high, behind a 4-7/8 x 1-1/4 inch faceplate. 2) What does the RS in Trine 007RS mean, and does the strike unlock or lock when power is lost?
RS is Trine's fail-safe suffix. The 007RS is fail-safe, so the keeper releases and the door opens when power drops. That is the reverse of the standard 00 Series action, which is fail-secure and unlocks only when power is applied. Fail-safe is available on DC only, which is why the 007RS is sold as 12 VDC or 24 VDC. Egress-critical and stairwell-style openings usually want fail-safe; a tenant entry you do not want free-swinging on a power outage usually does not.
