WAC Lighting WAC-PD-42918 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the Napa PD-42918 pendant mount on a sloped ceiling?
Yes. The canopy includes a hang straight swivel, so it hangs plumb on a sloped ceiling. It is a ceiling-mount, hardwired fixture and the canopy fits a pancake junction box, which helps when there is no room for a deep box in the joist bay. Canopy measures 8.75 inches across.
2) Can I use the WAC Napa LED pendant on a covered porch or in a bathroom?
It is damp location rated and carries an IP44 rating, so a covered porch, a soffit, or a bathroom outside the shower spray zone is fine. It is not rated for wet locations, so skip any spot with direct rain exposure. ETL and cETL listed.
3) What dimmer works with the PD-42918 pendant, and will a standard incandescent dimmer work?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. The pendant runs 120V AC LED technology with no external driver or transformer, and a standard incandescent/forward-phase dimmer is not the specified control. With an ELV dimmer the dimming is smooth and continuous.
4) Can I get the Napa PD-42918 pendant in 277V for a commercial job?
The standard build is 120V. WAC lists 277V, 240V, and custom color temperature as special order options on the PD-429 series, so a 277V commercial run has to be quoted as a special order rather than pulled as the stock part.
5) How much light does the 12 inch Napa LED pendant put out, and is an LED lamp included?
2400 lumens at 25W, 3000K warm white, with a flood distribution through a co-extruded white acrylic diffuser. The LED is integrated and included, rated 50,000 average hours, so there is no lamp to stock or replace. For a kitchen island, plan spacing around that 2400 lumen output per fixture.
6) Does the Napa PD-42918 meet California Title 24 for a residential lighting permit?
Yes, it is listed as Title 24 compliant and Title 20 compliant, which is what inspectors look for on California residential work. It is not Energy Star rated, so if a utility rebate program requires Energy Star specifically, this fixture will not qualify for that.
7) What size is the 12 inch Napa pendant overall, and how much clearance do I need below the ceiling?
The shade is 12 inches in diameter and the fixture body is 17.5 inches tall, with an 8.75 inch canopy at the ceiling. At minimum rod configuration the overall hang is 20 inches, so allow at least that much from the ceiling plane. Over a counter or island, measure from the finished floor to keep the 12 inch shade out of sightlines.
